We’re happy to announce that we’ve begun migrating our customers and agency partners to Termageddon 2.0 – something we’ve been very excited to launch.
Termageddon 2.0 has been many months in the making for us as we’ve taken feedback from our customers and agency partners to create a product that we hope will make it easier for more people to bring good privacy practices and policies to their websites.
Fun Fact: Our new app required 116,000+ lines of code to complete… compliance isn’t easy, folks.
In this blog, we will discuss why we created Termageddon 2.0, highlight some of its main features and improvements, and provide a roadmap of what this new app will allow us to do moving forward.

Why create Termageddon 2.0?
Believe it or not, writing 116,000 lines of code to improve a Privacy Policy Generator isn’t super fun. When you say it out loud, that’s worse than watching paint dry. Hearing paint dry, maybe?
We did it because we believe as many people as possible should have access to a tool that protects their business while truly respecting people’s privacy rights (and not just pretending to).
While Termageddon has always been the most comprehensive Privacy Policy Generator on the market – complying with dozens of laws and introducing automatic updates that ensure websites remain protected as the privacy law landscape changes – Termagedon 1.0 had some issues that kept it out of the hands of some.
- Intimidating: Being extremely comprehensive means our generator can look a little scary for websites using it for the first time. Our original app had several pages of questions that changed depending on your answers to ensure all t’s are crossed and i’s dotted when it comes to your policies. It was a bit jarring and overwhelming. So, we wanted a way to provide the same comprehensiveness but with a UI that was smoother, easier to follow, and less intimidating.
- Limited markets: Termageddon 2.0 will make it easier for us to implement new privacy laws from other countries as well — allowing us to hopefully expand more quickly into new markets around the globe.
Addressing these two main issues was the primary purpose for launching the new app. These changes will allow us to make privacy more accessible to more people.
That being said, we are also taking this time to launch new features that our agency partners and customers have requested. The new app will make it easier for us to add/remove/change features as more of these requests come in.
What are the features of Termageddon 2.0?
Improved UI
We wanted to clean up our generator to make it easier to follow and less intimidating. We did this by creating a more seamless generation process (all policies in one flow), improving the design’s simplicity, and improving our TermaGuider to help explain why certain things are/are not selected.
On-page support via TermaGuider
We added TermaGuider to the right side of the screen. This tool will automatically pull up relevant guidance depending on what question you are currently on. A “why?” button over most questions provides quick feedback as to why the generator may have auto-selected certain questions for you.
These are helpful features for those who are going through the generation process for the first time and not sure what to select.
Pre-fill Popular Answers
Our Privacy Policy Generator can be intimidating since we ask many questions to account for all the different privacy-law requirements. That being said, Termageddon 2.0 is able to take the information you filled out about your business and your website’s functionalities and auto-fill many of the remaining questions with the most popular answers.
While you will still need to review these answers (as you may be an exception to the rule), it should greatly improve the process for people who might be new to Termageddon.
Quicker sign-in with Google
Termageddon auto-updates customers’ policies when laws change, making it a true set-it-and-forget-it option. As such, remembering passwords can be a hassle if you aren’t regularly logging in.
We added the option to sign in via your Google account to help with quicker, easier logging in.
Auto-saved Answers
Termageddon 1.0 required users to click “Save” to save their answers. Considering some pages have dozens and dozens of questions/answers… you see where we are going with this.
It was a priority to make sure Termageddon 2.0 auto-saved to avoid browsers getting closed and users having to redo the answers. We’re happy to announce that this is now the case!
More sharing options
Our new app allows for more ways to share your licenses with your attorney, web designer, or client. Now you can share via link or email and have more options on how much access you’re giving the person/team you’re sharing it with.
Coming Soon pages
Still working on your policies or waiting for an attorney, web agency, or client to review your policies? We now offer ‘Coming Soon’ pages to let your users know that you’re working on your policies to adhere to their privacy rights.
Policy customizations and new sections feature
We updated the policy customization feature to now be a WYSIWYG editor. Instead of using shortcodes to create new titles and paragraphs, you can simply type in any content changes you wish to make. You can even add new sections to your policies (which help retain the auto-updates for non-customized sections)!
What’s to come
The best part of Termageddon 2.0 is that we can now release new features at a much faster rate. This will allow us to spread into new markets and react quicker to customer and agency partner feedback.
We will also be regularly updating this blog to contain new features as well as upcoming features (see section below). So keep checking back to see what’s new with your favorite Privacy Policy Generator.
